heycater is working to offset the CO₂ emissions generated! working closely with partner Climate Extender, a company that offers high-quality climate assessments for companies and products and develops recommendations for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Together, we support a range of projects that not only contribute to CO₂ reduction, but also strengthen local communities and promote biodiversity.

Climate Extender stands for very high quality standards (Greenhouse Gas Protocol, ISO 14064-1, Gold Standard, Verified Carbon Standard, etc.). Climate Extender was named Green Innovator 2024 for this special commitment.

Installation of a 20 MW biomass power project in Godawari, Nepal:

‍The aim of the project activity is to generate electricity from renewable biomass residues, i.e. rice husks, in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (CO₂). Since biomass is a CO₂-neutral fuel, the electricity produced by GPIL from renewable biomass has zero greenhouse gas emissions. It also replaces fossil-fuel-intensive power generation from the Indian grid, which leads to a reduction in emissions from such fossil fuels.

Installation of highly efficient wood stoves in Malawi, Southeast Africa:

‍The project in Malawi is distributing 500,000 improved cooking stoves (ICS), which replace conventional basic cooking stoves. These ICS, specifically TLC-CQC rocket stoves, burn wood more efficiently and improve heat transfer, saving fuel. The project aims to stop deforestation, reduce health risks from indoor smoke and reduce the time spent collecting firewood for women and children.

Power generation from a run-of-river power plant in Las Pizarras, Peru:

‍The Las Pizarras project in Peru is a run-of-river power plant with a total installed capacity of 18 MW, which is expected to generate 103.32 GWh of electricity annually. It uses water from the Chancay River and feeds the energy into the national grid (SEIN). With a minimum operating period of 40 years, the project is expected to avoid 68,132 tons of CO₂ equivalents (tCO₂e) annually, which corresponds to 681,323 t of CO₂ over the first 10 years.
